Packard Crossing

We recently installed an interior sign program for the first portion of a two phased project at Packard Crossing in Brighton, MA. The first phase consisted of two buildings; a renovated Victorian era house, and a newly constructed residential building. Our design challenge was to create residential unit and room identification signs that would compliment the different architectural styles of each building, and still appear to be related components within a coherent graphic program.

Our solution, working in conjunction with Hacin Architects, was to highlight the two different wood finishes found in each building; dark in the renovated Victorian, and a light, almost blonde wood tone in the new building. We used an extraordinary pressure sensitive film laminate to create an authentic, wood-like substrate for the sign plaques. Even under very close visual inspection, the wood grain film exhibits a warm and subtle natural texture. Tactile and non-tactile graphics for ADA compliance were reproduced on the sign plaque faces utilizing a direct to substrate digital print system.
