Hasty Pudding

After more than 100 years in existence, the Hasty Pudding Theatre at Harvard University was due for a major renovation. The intimate 300-seat theatre was totally gutted, retaining only the Georgian brick façade, the historic lobby, and a second floor lounge. The renovation of this six story building presented several sign and wayfinding challenges, as three stories are below grade and building circulation is not always obvious.

Our solution
Providing clear and understandable wayfinding and evacuation signs resulted in more signs than typical for a building of this size. Due to the number of signs, their design was intentionally understated as to not visually compete with the building. Signs for this project included an exterior monolith and illuminated poster cases, interior ADA and wayfinding signs, and etched wall and seat arm donor plaques.
